Ready, set, Seder!

03 April 2020

Ready, set, Seder!  Ella Weil, RE Coordinator at Kisharon School prepares for a mock Seder for pupils at home with Zoom.

The school’s Seder wasn’t the only activity for pupils now stuck at home due to Coronavirus. Kisharon School offered the children davening, lessons about Pesach, their weekly oneg, and other sessions, using Zoom and the remote communication app, Class Dojo.

School Deputy Head Lyna Panas said: “All the teachers have worked extremely hard to produce the online lessons through the week.”

Ella agreed: “It has been a fantastic new challenge, thinking out of the box and teaching in different ways. We still prepare resources, some of which take longer to get together as they have to be effective on video as well. This is very exciting as I get to touch base with my pupils and find new ways of teaching.”

Tuffkid Nursery children have davening and singing sessions on Zoom. Head Janice Marriott said: “Some children thought they were the only ones at home, so seeing all their friends and teachers brought feelings of familiarity in this very unsettled time.” Staff are using Tapestry, the pupils’ online learning journals to send home stories, ideas for keeping the children occupied and updates on the nursery’s pets.
