New Trustee for Kisharon

14 April 2016

Connection, empathy and understanding make an outstanding Trustee. Meet the newest addition to the Kisharon board, Joanne Greenaway.

Joanne works in the London Beth Din in the newly created role of Get caseworker.

Joanne said: “I have been very moved by hearing Beverley Jacobson’s own story and after speaking to her and hearing Emma Castleton (also a Kisharon Trustee) speak passionately about Kisharon School, I feel very humbled.

“I was invited to become a Trustee to bring a fresh perspective and I will try to learn, in the first instance, the value I can add.”

Joanne manages often difficult and sensitive cases to secure a Jewish divorce. This involves an understanding of both civil and Jewish law. She is also working closely with the United Synagogue on child protection.

Joanne worked for 12 years at Herbert Smith Freehills specialising in international arbitration and public international law. As professional support lawyer in the firm’s international arbitration group, she travelled as far afield as Japan and Singapore to train lawyers in dispute resolution skills, and in 2013 co-edited a major text book on arbitration in England.

A graduate of the Susi Bradfield Educational Leadership programme, she lectures at the London School of Jewish Studies and took part in the inaugural Gamechangers senior Jewish commmunity leadership programme.

Joanne was named by the Jewish News in the ‘40 under 40 list’ of Jews poised to make a big impact on the community.
