Inspired by the tuck shop run by Kisharon at her school, Ariela Ohrenstein set up her own. Together with her friend Abby Smith, they piled their stall high with bottled water, Coca-Cola, ice cream and crisps and raised almost £100 for Kisharon.
The original tuck shop was run at Kerem School, which Ariela attended.
Mum, Jennifer, said: “The children would buy their tuck from the Kisharon pupils and this and other initiatives from Kerem showed that not every child is like them.
“We had a £1 minimum charge at the stall and many passers-by stopped to chat and buy. It raised awareness of Kisharon as well as raising funds for the charity.
“We hope the next generation will become aware that there are people in our community, and the wider society, who do face life with learning difficulties, and that, collectively we can, and should, make an effort either through fundraising or in other practical ways, to play our part and support them.”
