Sunday afternoons are dog-lover Tamara Fynn’s favourite time of the week.
Volunteer Rachel Presser, 17 and her Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Daisy, go on long walks in the park with Tamara, who is supported by Kisharon.
Rachel, a pupil at JFS said: “Tamara just focuses on Daisy and seems to be able to communicate with her. Tamara seems much more relaxed when she is with Daisy.
Kisharon had been looking for a volunteer with a dog for Tamara for a while, and I was pleased to help.”
Cheryl Tissot, Chief Executive Officer of Pets As Therapy, said: “Animal assisted therapy can be used by teachers, senco, speech and language therapists and psychologists, among others, to benefit childrens’ and adults’ physical, emotional and psychosocial health, cognitive function and communication skills.”
