Volunteering is so rewarding, say brothers

14 April 2016

Volunteering at Kisharon is an amazing experience, say brothers Sam and Joe Massias, doctors in the making.

Sam, studying medicine in London, was a volunteer for a year with the men in Parson Street, while Joe, two years younger, volunteered at the supported living flat at Montpelier Rise. He played games and football with the men and is hoping for a place at Liverpool University medical school.

Joe said: “Volunteering was as enjoyable as it was rewarding. The staff and the men were so lovely and I had such an amazing time getting to know and make friends with them. It was a memorable experience for me and I hope to keep in touch with everyone.

“I felt that volunteering would make me better equipped to apply for medicine, as I would learn to communicate with a larger variety of people than I was used to,” added Joe.

Both brothers were pupils at Yavneh College.
