Tuffkid’s £100,000 play area unveiled

13 September 2017

Tuffkid Nursery has unveiled its £100,000 new play area, an enchanted wonderland that is enthralling children and parents alike.

The play area was constructed over the summer following very generous grants from Wolfson Jewish Education Fund and the Charles Wolfson Charitable Trust.

Every section has been painstakingly thought out, giving children of all abilities a learning experience at every turn.

There is a rustic playhouse with a bark chip path weaving through the planting, which has been selected for its colour, scent or the texture of leaves.

There is a fish pond, a pump where children can play with water, a climbing frame, sand with a pulley system, a mixture of real and fake grass and giant stones. A brick and wood track has been constructed, creating a challenging experience for children riding bikes and scooters.

The play equipment and the fences of the garden have been built in natural wood, and the design was cleverly thought out to make the best use of the space available.

Head of Tuffkid Janice Marriott selected Sheffield specialist landscapers, Playgarden and worked with their landscape architect throughout the summer.

Playgarden was not focused on play equipment but on the environment and this is what I wanted for Tuffkid. The garden is an oasis of calm and our new intake of children seem to have settled more quickly than in previous years. Parents have been overwhelmed.”

The interior of the nursery was renovated during the summer and Janice paid tribute to her staff who had minimal time to get the nursery back to normal before the start of the autumn term.
