A Skoog is an electronic musical instrument that allows everyone to make music regardless of age or ability.
Designed primarily for special needs education and music therapy, it is a soft cube that plugs into a computer running the accompanying software, via a USB. The software can be modelled to allow users of the Skoog to create various musical sounds through touch. Current software offers the opportunity to create music using 21 instruments.
The device allows users to make music without the dexterity required to master conventional instruments.
The Skoog, which can be enjoyed by all family members, can integrate with an iTunes library or music streaming service so operators can play along with their favourite tracks.
Warning: a Skoog is not inexpensive. It costs £199. 95 and is available from Amazon, Apple and music education dealers.
