Adrian runs his third half marathon for Kisharon

30 March 2017

Adrian Jacobs raised £10,800 for Kisharon in the Jerusalem Marathon, reputed to be one of the hardest in the world.

Jerusalem is built on seven hills and the marathon route takes in five of them. “Even the Ethiopian runner who won added a few seconds to his usual time because of the hills,” said Adrian, just back from Israel after running his third half marathon for Kisharon in 2h 40, topping up his fundraising total over the three events to an incredible £31,800.

Although Adrian was Kisharon’s sole entrant, he certainly didn’t feel alone. He said: “I wore my Kisharon T-shirt with pride and all the ex-Brits shouted out: ‘Go, Kisharon, go!’ The centre of Jerusalem is virtually sealed off for the day and supporters cheer throughout the route, which takes in the Old City and newer sectors.”

Adrian, who works at property company BMO Real Estate Partners in London, said: “The atmosphere is electric. It’s a total carnival party all the way. It’s started by Nir Barkat, the Mayor of Jerusalem who also takes part.”

As well as the full marathon, runners can enter the half marathon, like Adrian, 10k or 5k races. But will Adrian do it all again for the fourth time next year?

Adrian says: “My wife Michelle says this one was my last, but I say I’ll be doing it again – so who knows?”
