Rosh Hashanah work opportunity

19 September 2019

Want to know more about the yellow bee or red apple tags on the Kisharon gifts you’ve just bought?  Painting hundreds of wooden shapes provided work experience at the Skills for Employment Centre.

“We were looking for an inclusive activity and painting the apples and bees was just right.” said Simon Shaw, Retail Development and Training Manager.

The wooden shapes were sourced from a craft supplier and the centre had stocks of red, yellow and black poster paint. The shapes needed a couple of coats for the best finish.

“We painted 500 shapes and the work took a few sessions. Around 20 painters took part. It was a hugely enjoyable and sociable activity, and a good work experience opportunity. Everyone could do it, and we all sat round the table painting. The bee and apple tags look great on all the shop’s wrapped gifts,” Simon added.
