Mayor’s award for our six volunteers

Six outstanding Kisharon volunteers were presented with certificates by the Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Brian Salinger at the Volunteers’ Week volunteering fair at the Arts Depot in Finchley.  The six were Sarah Adler, Peter Lewinson, Terry Markewicz, Eliezer Gilbert, Lisa Silverbeck and David Shemtob.

Sarah volunteers at Head Office and at Childs Hill Library which Kisharon runs in conjuntion with Barnet Mencap; Retired teacher Peter gives lessons in numeracy and literacy to adults supported by Kisharon; Terry runs hugely popular music and dance sessions for the children at Kisharon School; Lisa Silverbeck has befriended a number of adults supported by Kisharon; David Shemtob is a much-loved helper at Tuffkid School while school teacher Eliezer Gilbert organises groups of young people to visit Kisharon’s supported living homes on Shabbat.

“All of these volunteers have made a wonderful contribution to Kisharon, and we are greatly indebted to them,” said Volunteer Coordinator Lara Domjan.

Also in Volunteers’ Week (June 1-7), Kisharon thanked its volunteers at a supper event at the Childs Hill Library. Kisharon Chairman Philip Goldberg and Trustee Yitzy Lerner expressed gratitude to volunteers for their help and presented certificates.  Supper was supplied by JW3’s Zest.
