New job for Shammai

22 February 2018

Shammai Rotenberg has a new job. He has paid employment at The Grove, the luxury hotel, spa and golf resort in Hertfordshire.

A student at Kisharon’s Further Education College, Shammai learned customer service skills working at Equal Gifts and Homeware in Temple Fortune, and is now delighted to join The Grove.

Speaking on his first day, Shammai said: “I am enjoying this very much. I have already made friends with other staff. I enjoy meeting new people.”

With his employment contract signed, Shammai started his job on Monday and he is working in the hotel laundry.
The journey to The Grove involves taking the London Underground from Brent Cross station to Euston where he changes to the National Rail service to Watford Junction. A staff minibus transports employees to the hotel from Watford.

Danielle Michaels, Human Resources Manager at The Grove, said: “Shammai is a real credit and we are thrilled he is now part of our Grove family.”

Kisharon’s Head of Employment, Shlomo Weltman added: “Having a job enriches the lives of those we support, delivering self confidence and independence. Employers find that taking on an adult with learning disabilities changes their working environment for the better. Kisharon maintains a close working relationship with our employers, and we are always looking for more. Can you offer a job to someone who really needs it? Just a few hours a week can suffice.”
