Good to be back – all smiles at the Maccabi GB Fun Run

31 August 2021

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, pictured, met people supported by Kisharon at Sunday’s Maccabi GB Fun Run, back after its cancellation last year.

Twenty people supported by Kisharon ran at StoneX Stadium, Hendon, formerly Allianz Park, including Debbie Rosten, shown below, who enters every year. She raised more than £700.

In a pre-event video Debbie said: “I am proud and grateful for all the donations to my fundraising page.”

A 1k runner, Debbie wowed the crowds and also Kisharon volunteer Steven Rowe, shown collecting for Kisharon. He said: “I was flying the flag for Kisharon on its stall at the event. Debbie came over and I was really impressed with her positivity. She did 1k, and everyone cheered her. She has a sparkle in her eye and a sassy attitude.

“Kisharon’s 20 runners and their carers came in wearing Kisharon T-shirts and hats and they made a big impact on everyone.”

Chief Executive Richard Franklin, in the green T-shirt, raised almost £300 in the 10k event. He said: “It was amazing to witness the wonderful atmosphere created at the community fun run today. Thank you to all our amazing runners who raised important funds that will make a great difference. It’s been a fantastic day and really positive to have so many people we support back out taking part.”

Samantha McLeod Kisharon’s Events and Challenges Executive, said: “Everyone really looks forward to this event and was thrilled to be back. People approached the Kisharon stall and commended us for our work, and the services we provide and this was appreciated. It was a great day enjoyed by all and lovely to see the people we support enjoying themselves.”
