Girls lend a hand at Skills for Employment Centre

17 January 2020

Pupils from Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls volunteered at Kisharon’s Skills for Employment Centre.

They made goods for sale at the Gift and Homeware Store, Equal.  In particular they helped assemble greetings cards and wrapped Shabbat candles.

Interesting to each of them was seeing first hand the importance of working and socialising for people with disabilities.

Annabel Ries, the mother of one of the girls said: “It was a very positive experience, and one they might repeat. They now feel more connected to Kisharon. Staff at the school, when we told them, were delighted the girls had done something so worthwhile with their day off while the school held its carol service.”

“The world stands on three things: Torah, the service of G-d, and deeds of kindness.” Kisharon looks at the person not the disability, teaching Torah, Middos and Mitzvot embracing and cherishing everybody’s special talent and bringing out the best in them.
