Bev says…

11 October 2018

Ten years ago I began working at Kisharon having been drawn to this line of work by my own experience. I felt indebted for the soul-saving support I had received and humbled by the many people who I witnessed reaching out daily to help and support my daughter Talya as she struggled to make her way in the world. I joined Kisharon wanting desperately to give back. In the end I have gained so much more than I have given.

Early on, I was taken by Kisharon’s creative and aspirant approach to providing for adults with learning disabilities. On a personal level this allowed me to dream about possibilities for my daughter’s future and professionally, it made me passionate about creating pathways to make this happen for others in the community.

More importantly though, I have been moved on a daily basis by the warmth and kindness, love and care that I have witnessed across our services by our incredible staff team and by the commitment demonstrated by so many people in the community to supporting this work. Kisharon has that effect – it restores one’s faith in mankind.

Over the past ten years, Kisharon has grown from strength to strength and I am pleased to be able to leave it in Richard Franklin’s capable hands as it continues along its exciting trajectory. I will be following the organisation’s progress and particularly the development of the school with much interest, but also happy in the knowledge that the strong leadership team and the very effective Board of Trustees will turn this dream into a reality and continue to nurture and drive this fabulous organisation forwards.

It has been a pleasure and privilege to work for Kisharon, and I wish the organisation and every one of its wonderful staff, volunteers and supporters every best wish for the future.

“The world stands on three things: Torah, the service of G-d, and deeds of kindness.” Kisharon looks at the person not the disability, teaching Torah, Middos and Mitzvot embracing and cherishing everybody’s special talent and bringing out the best in them.
