Volunteers are the lifeblood of Kisharon. Thanks to their vital support, hard work and dedication, we are able to offer a hugely varied programme to children and adults with learning disabilities. Therefore, at Kisharon we are committed to ensuring that our volunteers are well supported and have a positive volunteering experience with us.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the growing and dynamic volunteering team at Kisharon. There are a wide variety of volunteering opportunities available in each of our services, so whether you are looking for an administration role or an opportunity to work with the people we support, there is an exciting volunteering opportunity suited to you!
We have a wide range of opportunities for you to be involved in at Kisharon, this could be a regular commitment, ad-hoc help, alone or with friends. If you are interested in another area that is not mentioned below or have a specific hobby, talent or area of expertise, we would love to hear from you too.
As a Kisharon volunteer you will receive an induction, training and continual support. There is always an initial trial period, giving all involved the opportunity to experience volunteering without committing up front.
In addition, for our young volunteers all of the hours you volunteer can be counted towards your volunteering awards such as Duke of Edinburgh, VInspired etc.

We are looking for a number of people who can commit to at least three hours a week (or more) to man our reception desk. This role includes answering the door intercom, welcoming visitors and some general administrative tasks. Basic computer skills are needed and a friendly, polite attitude.
Kisharon are looking for volunteers to enhance the creativity and well being of the adults with learning disabilities whom we support. Currently we are looking to fill the following voluntary positions: Personal Trainer (male) Tennis Players (male) Master Chess Player (male) Arts and Crafts (female) Baking (Male or Female) Taking a walk (Male or Female). We are also looking to involve volunteers in other creative and sporty ways, so if you have a hobby that you would like to share with the people we support please be in touch.
Our students and the people we support often need to be driven to sports centres, swimming pools, or other venues, at various times of the day and week. If you have a clean licence and can drive a minibus, please contact us. Fully trained staff will accompany vehicles at all times. You would need to commit to two hours a week to drive people in Hendon or Stamford Hill.
Support adults with learning difficulties to take part in Shabbat spiritual activities such as Kiddush or attend local Shuls in Golders Green. This is a commitment of once a month for half an hour and can be done in pairs. Ages 16 and above.
Visit adults living in supporting living accommodation for games, learning and discussion. This is once a month in Hendon or Golders Green. This is suitable for young and older volunteers and can be done in pairs.
Would you like to support women with learning needs to light candles and sing songs at dusk on a Friday and help bring in a spiritual Shabbat. As a volunteer you will light candles, make the brachot and sing shalom aleichem and recite kiddush. A supportive, calm, patient person with knowledge of Jewish prayers needed. This is suitable for aged 15 + girls and can be done in pairs, once or more a month.
Would you like to say Havdalah with the ladies in their home? After Shabbat, suitable for males above the age of 21 years, once a month and can be done in pairs.
Support men and ladies over the lunch time period. During this time you are able to play board games, take part in arts and crafts, read, chat or attend to our beautiful and growing vegetable garden. The men and ladies love to meet new people and are very welcoming and eager to share their stories and ideas with you, promising to bring many enjoyable moments. We are looking for calm, supportive and patient people that can commit to once a week between 12:30 and 2:00pm. There is always a trial period giving all involved the opportunity to see if this is suitable and then you decide if you want to commit to volunteer with Kisharon and in what capacity. No previous experience is necessary and Kisharon will provide training and support. You will always be with staff members.
We are looking for a lady in Hendon or Golders Green with a dog or cat who would let a lady with learning difficulties come to her house with a member of staff once a week to take care of the pet. The animal must be extremely tame.
