Volunteering for Kisharon

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Kisharon. Thanks to their vital support, hard work and dedication, we are able to offer a hugely varied programme to children and adults with learning disabilities. Therefore, at Kisharon we are committed to ensuring that our volunteers are well supported and have a positive volunteering experience with us.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the growing and dynamic volunteering team at Kisharon. There are a wide variety of volunteering opportunities available in each of our services, so whether you are looking for an administration role or an opportunity to work with the people we support, there is an exciting volunteering opportunity suited to you!

Role Minivan Drivers
Male and Females required. Females- urgently needed
Skills Required Open minded, flexible
Good interpersonal skills
Reliability
Full Drivers license
A confident and good driver
Commitment Once a week for a minimum of one school term.

Role Travel Trainer and Job Coach
Support an individual to travel from home to their work place. Men and Women required
Skills Required Excellent communications skills.
Patience and determination.
Commitment to supporting an individual with learning difficulties.
Numeracy and Literacy.
Commitment One half day a week for a minimum of 3 months.

Role Snack Box Driver
Deliver snack boxes to different destinations and collect the old boxes.
Skills Required Commitment to supporting an individual with learning difficulties.
Driver of own car.
Commitment One half day a week for a minimum of 3 months.

Role Collection Boxes Coordinator
Exchange full collection boxes for empty boxes at allocated shops/ venues
Skills Required Ideally a car owner
Honest and reliable
Commitment Collection can be done anytime to suit the volunteer
Location North London

 

Role Money Counter
Count and accurately bag money returned from collection boxes.
Skills Required Honesty
Ability to count independently
Commitment Once every two weeks / month.

Role Tennis Buddy
Play tennis with a man in his 30’s who lives independently.
Skills Required Friendly
Outgoing & understanding
Decent tennis player
Commitment Once a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday during the day
Location Golders Green

 

Role Swimming Support (male & female)
Teach small groups swimming and water skills
Skills Required Qualified Lifeguard, or skilled swimmer with a strong personality to be able to manage a group
Commitment Once every 2 weeks Wednesday - women Thursday evening- men

Role Befrienders
Visit adults living in supporting living accommodation for games, learning and discussion.
Skills Required Good communication skills. Patient, supportive
Committed to supporting an individual with learning difficulties.
Commitment Once a week for a minimum of a month

Role Facilitate group sessions or 1-2-1 activities
Arts and Crafts, Play chess, exercise, walking,
Skills Required Friendly, patient, kind
Assertive when leading a session.
Commitment Once a week for a minimum of 2 months

Role Volunteer Department Support
Administration and interview new volunteers
Skills Required Organisation

Experience interviewing people

Role Fundraising Department Internship
Fundraising Administration Event Support Good grounding in basics of all aspects of fundraising team

Role Gardener
Oversee a gardening project
Working on project with Kisharon users.
Facilitate and plan gardening sessions

Run in Fun Run or help look after the Kisharon stall on 26 May 2013
