Kisharon’s experienced team works in partnership with both local businesses and city firms to identify jobs for individuals, creating opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to contribute meaningfully to society and to earn an income. The employment department continues to expand and in 2015 was awarded The Ruderman Prize of $50, 000. In 2018, the team received WIZOuk’s Commitment Award for Vocational Training.
Kisharon’s Skills for Employment programme is run by Shlomo Weltman. He recognised that the people we support had untapped potential and could contribute in a positive way in a range of different roles in employment and opened Kisharon’s Supported Employment Programme two years later. Kisharon successfully placed and supported a number of people with learning disabilities across the community. In recognition Shlomo was nominated as REED Social Care Carer of the Year and came in second place.
Kisharon’s Supported Employment Programme is a creative and enterprising way to bring together adults with an untapped skillset with businesses requiring staff and offering a friendly and supportive environment for their workforce.
