Fun weekend respite
#

Kisharon, Respite and Step North West aim to join in partnership to offer local children the opportunity to go away on a fun adventure weekend and at the same time give their carers and family’s respite.

The Project

We know from consultation with parents that respite is important for families. It gives families the chance to relax and renews their energy. It allows families to enjoy favourite pastimes and even pursue new activities. It improves the family’s ability to cope with daily responsibilities and maintain stability during crisis. The family unit can be preserved and lessens the pressures that can lead to neglect, abuse or divorce, breakdowns and even constant illness.

One of the most important benefits of respite is that it allows families to become involved in community activities and feel less isolated. It allows families to spend time together and alone as well as to allow family members to establish individual identities and enrich their own growth and development.

At the same time, the main function of respite care is to provide the child with a positive and rewarding experience while at the same time providing the primary care giver with a break from the care and supervision of their child. The aim is for it to be a weekend of fun for all.

We hope that this will enable all participating children to feel on par with their peers and siblings who are often able to go away to friend’s houses for the weekend. We are sure that we can provide a supportive and caring environment so that the children will become increasingly self-confident and will look forward to their next adventure. We are convinced that this distinctive religious character is very successful in promoting pupil’s spiritual and moral development as well as helping them to reach their potential socially.
