12 July 2018

A striking collection of art from individuals supported by Kisharon working together with professional artists will be auctioned in September.

Twenty individuals with learning disabilities took part in the HeART Edit project, working with 16 artists, including interior designers and a ceramicist, to produce pieces that will be sold at auction in central London.

Volunteer Freidi Klein first saw a collaborative art exhibition in Israel and brought the idea to Kisharon. Some of the artists have been so inspired by the project they have continued to tutor their pupils following the completion of their HeART Edit work.

Artist Simone Krok said: “Interacting with these incredible people expanded my soul, thank you.” Another, Cindy Sofer said: “I wanted to let you know that working in this project was a delight.”

Several artists have donated their own work to be sold at the auction, with the proceeds donated to Kisharon.

Art has a therapeutic benefit for people with learning disabilities, especially those who are non-verbal for whom it is invaluable in helping them to express their feelings and emotions.
