New home for bike shop

30 March 2017

Kisharon’s bike shop – new name Equal Bikes – has moved to the heart of the Jewish community in Bell Lane, Hendon.

The new premises, at 25 Bell Lane, will continue to repair adults and children’s bikes and buggies, and to sell new models, spares and accessories.

It will train 18 men with learning disabilities every week, a continuation of the work that took place at the old premises in Church Road.

The men learn social skills, how to deal with the public and what it takes to work in a shop as well as the specialist mechanical techniques needed to carry out repairs.

The shop provides full-time employment for Levi Hyams, Shaya Zimmels and Yaakov Leon and the other men come in for sessions during the week.

“More training places are available at the shop and we expect these will be filled soon,” said Manager Eytan Bordoley.
