Mitzvah Day party for children

23 November 2015

Ner Yisrael Synagogue threw a party for Tuffkid Nursery children and their siblings to mark Mitzvah Day on Sunday 22 November.

The party was organised by synagogue volunteer Julie Cohn and a team of helpers from the shul and around the community. Kisharon Volunteer Coordinator Lara Domjan was especially pleased to see so many young people among the helpers. Activities included arts and crafts, decorating iced biscuits, and a music and dance session led by Terri Markiewicz.

“The children absolutely loved it,” declared Natalie Granat, whose two-year-old son Aaron goes to Tuffkid Nursery. Mrs Granat came to the party with her husband Daniel and their daughter Talya, aged 15 months.

Young volunteer Tziyona Elf, who attends JFS, said the morning was ‘interesting and fun’, and was pleased to help the charity as her mother works at its day school. Her friend, Hasmonean student Orli Masters, said it ‘was nice to be able to help people.’

Also present, Kisharon Chief Executive Dr Beverley Jacobson presented Ms Cohn with a bouquet of flowers, saying: “Thank you for an amazing morning.”
