Flower power at Shavuos

25 May 2017

Children at Tuffkid gave each other flowers for Shavuos after buying them from the florist’s in the nursery playground.

Using a stall, artificial flowers and a play till, children set up shop in the playground and bought and sold the colourful blooms.

The nursery marked the tradition of eating dairy foods over Shavuos by making butter for the children to take home. The children put cream into containers and shook them to make butter.

Janice Marriott, Head of Tuffkid said: “When we first put the cream into the container it was white and runny but after shaking it with marbles inside, we noticed that the liquid had become solid. There was some very thin liquid left at the bottom which was the whey – butter milk – and noticed the cream had become slightly yellow as it turned into butter. Everybody had a chance to shake the cream and we hope you enjoy it on Shavuos.”
