Graphic designer Marc Harding teamed up with his daughter Lola, 12, to produce a large and colourful painting for Kisharon’s Hanna Schwalbe supported living facility in Golders Green. They took on the project to mark Lola’s batmitzvah which took place in October at Finchley Synagogue, and to coincide with the opening of the newly-refurbished apartments for people with learning disabilities.
The one-metre square canvas was completed over six-months using acrylic paints. Before starting they met Kisharon staff to discuss what kind of imagery would be suitable.
Lola, a year seven student at Immanuel College, Bushey, was delighted to see the project finished.
The painting depicts Jewish and Israeli images including the seven species, the three foot festivals of Pesach, Shavuot and Succoth and the moon and stars representing Rosh Chodesh (new month). The background also shows the sun, the Wailing Wall, and the Hamsa, a good luck symbol.
The Kisharon tenants were delighted with the beautiful new addition to their living room wall.
“We wanted to do something nice for Kisharon because it’s such a fabulous charity,” said their wife and mum Elaine Harding.
