As both Chair of Governors at Kisharon School and a Kisharon Trustee, Emma Castleton has strived hard for a purpose-built school. Unfortunately, her son, Elias, 14, will be almost too old to enjoy it.
Emma is philosophical. “He’ll get a year, or two at most, in the new school which is a shame. But Elias loves Kisharon School as it is and he’s very happy.”
Emma considers more space the best benefit the new Kisharon School can bring.
“There are no break-out areas for children with behavioural issues, in fact there’s no space for anything. The old building is increasingly not fit for purpose,” said Emma who works in the advertising department at the Financial Times.
Emma is proud that Kisharon has a diverse workforce, and includes people from many countries, and faiths, across the globe.
Now with a woman chief executive and two female trustees for many years, the board is still a respecter of tradition. Colleagues are, however, very open minded and ‘a real pleasure to work with’, she said.
