Childs Hill Library hosts the Summer Reading Challenge

16 August 2017

Childs Hill Library, run by Kisharon and Barnet Mencap, is hosting the Summer Reading Challenge for 4-11 year olds.

Children are encouraged to read six books of their choice over the summer holidays with exciting prizes to be won along the way. This year the theme is Animal Agents and Childs Hill Library ran an arts and crafts session for children on the topic.

Neha Dhakar, Social Enterprise Manager – Partnership Library, said: “The 13 children who attended made colourful masks using glitter, glue and feathers. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the response and we’re now thinking of organising another event towards the end of the holidays.”

Around 45 children have signed up to the Summer Reading Challenge at Childs Hill Library so far. It is run at all libraries and thousands of children take part every year. Those who complete the challenge are awarded a certificate or a medal.

Neha said: “We hope that even more children will join in. It’s going to be a summer full of stories. Happy reading!”
