Over £27,000 has been raised for Kisharon so far when 25 runners represented the charity in the Bupa London 10,000.

Among those who ran for Kisharon - the only Jewish cause in the event - was Jeffrey Gilbert, Manager of Asher Loftus Business Centre and the Hackney Community Inclusion Project. He said, "The run was very difficult but immensely rewarding and I thoroughly enjoyed representing such a great charity. The weather conditions were truly appalling but this only made it an even greater challenge and the uplifting feeling once I had completed the run was all the more gratifying."

Tamara Schmidt said, "When I woke up I wanted to cry because the weather was so hideous, but once I started running I knew that it was going to be easier than I'd expected. The feeling of elation as I finished was unlike anything I've ever felt before - I was so proud of myself and so pleased at how much I'd been able to help Kisharon. The Kisharon supporters around the course were a huge encouragement, and I'm very grateful to all of you for helping me to keep going and reminding me why I was there!"

Fellow runner Avner Radomsky added: "I was pleased to have completed the run in one peice, considering this is the first time I have done long-distance running. I was also pleased with finishing the run in under an hour. The support from spectators, including my wife Judith, really spurred us on."
